Still a Great Place to Work – Algonquin College a Top Employer in the NCR Again!

Top Employer

College yet again recognized for strong benefits, community involvement, and transparency.

(Ottawa, February 5, 2015) The results are in, and Algonquin College has yet again been named one of the National Capital Region’s Top Employers for 2015 following an annual judging competition organized by Mediacorp.

The selection process was based on criteria such as work and social atmosphere, employee communications, training and skills development, and community involvement, among others.

“One of the things we are most proud of, really, is our commitment to employee engagement and personal development,” says Gerry Barker, Vice President of Human Resources at Algonquin College. “We take pride in ensuring our employees feel like they’re a real part of a family.”

Employees are encouraged to maintain a work environment based on the college’s core values: caring, learning, integrity, and respect. The College aims to “transform hopes and dreams into skills and knowledge” for both its 20,000 full-time students, and nearly 3,100 full-time and part-time employees.

“We’re there for our students,” Barker says. “But we’re there for our employees, too.”
