OTTAWA (June 28, 2023) – Algonquin College is launching a new honours bachelor’s degree program to prepare future leaders in human resources management. The Bachelor of Commerce (Strategic Human Resources Management) program combines foundational business knowledge with human capital strategy, providing graduates with a unique skillset to leverage when entering the workforce.
Market trends support the need for a human resources management-focused commerce program. The strategic business nature of this program will provide students with unique and desirable qualifications upon graduation. Graduates will have a wide choice of employment opportunities, including human resources management generalist, recruiter, human resources business partner, human resources manager, training and development specialist and human resources management advisor.
Learners will apply their business foundations and human resources management knowledge in a paid co-operative education (co-op) work term. The fourteen-week co-op placement allows students to connect with industry professionals while expanding their knowledge and skills in the workplace. The program’s final year will focus on business and human capital challenges from a global and strategic standpoint, with a lens into the constantly evolving nature of organizational talent and changes in core business industries.
Registration is open for the September 2023 intake. For further information, please visit the Bachelor of Commerce (Strategic Human Resources Management) Honours program page..
