Algonquin College Corporate Training now offers all seven HCRA Competency Courses and exams for Ontario Home Builders
Posted on Monday, October 31st, 2022
(OTTAWA – October 31, 2022) – Algonquin College Corporate Training has rolled out all seven approved courses and exams required by the Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA) for new home builders in Ontario.
Now running on their public enrolment schedule, home builders applying for their license can get the training they need from Algonquin College in order to pass their competency exams. Each one- or two-day course includes the exam fee and is taught by certified industry instructors. Live instruction is considered the best way for knowledge transfer and setting participants up for success for their exam.
“We are excited to be adding to our roster of course offerings in the construction sector” said Business Development Director Pouya Safi. “Corporate Training has had a long history working within this industry and we are long-time members of the Greater Ottawa Homebuilders Association and the Ontario Homebuilders Association. Getting these courses built and approved by HCRA, was a natural fit for us.”
It is estimated that Ontario will require one million new homes in the next decade to meet our growing population. The new home building sector is not only booming, but also a critical need for our province.

About the Home Construction Regulatory Authority
The HCRA was designated by the Government of Ontario effective February 1, 2021 as the regulatory authority under the New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017. Historically, the Tarion Warranty Corporation had been the delegated administrative authority responsible for licensing home builders and vendors in Ontario. Now, the HCRA regulates new home builders and vendors in the province. They protect the public interest through a fair, safe and informed marketplace that supports the goal of a continuously improved homebuilding industry in Ontario.
