AC Mobile Safety App and Mandatory Vaccination Policy
Posted on Wednesday, September 1st, 2021
Dear Employees and Learners:
Algonquin College has implemented the use of a digital Vaccine Passport using our existing AC Mobile Safety App. This tool supports the Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination policy, which has been introduced in response to provincial regulations and public health requirements to help ensure the safety and well-being of the College community and to promote education and awareness regarding vaccination. Implementing the use of the Vaccine Passport App will enhance the existing health and safety measures and improve coordination of access at all campuses.
If you already have the AC Mobile Safety App on your mobile phone, you will see a clickable link at the bottom of the screen to update the version of the app you have. The new version includes a COVID-19 Vaccine Passport option. If you do not already have the app, you can download the AC Mobile Safety App for an iOS or Android mobile phone by using this link: https://apparmor.apparmor.com/clients/algonquincollege.com/
You can use the AC Mobile Safety App to upload your proof of vaccination in a few easy steps. Please ensure that you complete your proof of vaccine submission at least 3 calendar days prior to your first planned attendance for in-person activities on-campus. To ensure a prompt review process please ensure that the photo/screen capture submitted is legible and contains your name, vaccine name and date of dose. If you are exempted from vaccination due to medical or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, the App can be used to make this attestation.
Once your information has been uploaded, it will be reviewed and confirmed. You will receive an email that states that your vaccine status has changed on the AC Mobile Safety App. The email will confirm your status and additional direction, if applicable. If any additional information is required to complete your verification, you will be contacted at the email or phone number that you provided in your proof of vaccination submission.
Obtaining your AC Vaccine Passport establishes the most convenient method for continuing to access in-person activities and College campuses. A step by step guide has been prepared to assist you, as needed. (watch the how to video now.)
Self-Screening
Regardless whether you are vaccinated or not, it is important that you do not attend campuses if you are unwell or present a high risk of exposure / transmission for COVID-19.
Daily health self-screening is still supported through the AC Mobile Safety App self-screening tool. This tool helps to determine whether you should or should not attend campus through your responses to a few questions. It generates a message to you along with a green QR Code if you are permitted to attend campus. This screen or “badge” can be shown to gain access to campuses. If you do not pass the self-screen, a message indicating you are not permitted to attend campus will be displayed – along with specific guidance and additional assistance information.
To help avoid any delays at designated public entrances, please be aware of these requirements and take actions in advance to ensure you won’t be inconvenienced when attending in-person, on-campus activities during the Fall Term.
Entry to campus buildings is limited to designated public entrances (Ottawa Campus map) and main entrances at Pembroke and Perth Campuses.
Self-screen and show your screening badge at the entrance time you are required to gain entry to the campus. DO NOT attend campus if you have not passed the screening.
Show your vaccination passport or other approved documents (listed here) every time you are required to gain entry to the campus.
These FAQs are available to assist you in finding additional information.
A broad range of information regarding access to campuses, self-screening and vaccination passports is also available here for your reference.
Sincerely,
Colin Bonang
