Perth Campus Launches New Practical Nursing Program During National Nursing Week

On Monday – the first day of National Nursing Week – Algonquin’s Perth Campus officially launched a Practical Nursing Program, a two-year college diploma that will give learners the required knowledge and skills to write the Canadian Practical Nurse Examination in Ontario and become Registered Practical Nurses.

Learning opportunities in the much-anticipated new program include theory, lab techniques, applied experiences and independent study, as well as getting hands-on experience in a number of different healthcare facilities, including hospitals and long-term care homes.The program also boasts a Simulation Lab, where learners can work through realistic patient scenarios right on campus.

The Practical Nursing program was launched in Perth due to both high student demand and community need, as identified by community healthcare partners.
