Dear Colleagues and Learners:
As you know, the Ontario government has declared that Ontario is in a second state of emergency, and that new measures have been introduced to slow the spread of COVID-19. A stay-at-home order will come into effect on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. in response to the rise in COVID-19 cases across the province and increased pressures on our health care system.
The Ministry of Colleges and Universities will be following up with regulations on Wednesday, and it is our understanding the current practices at colleges won’t be changing. While we await the memo from the Ministry, we will continue to follow the existing regulations and guidelines and the associated new public health restrictions, to determine the impact on our operations, services, and community campuses.
As soon as we have more details, a more comprehensive communiqué outlining any potential impacts on college operations will be shared with the entire College community. Please watch your College email address and social media channels tomorrow for additional information.
Sincerely,
Claude Brulé
President, CEO
Algonquin College
