Rogers Hometown Hockey setup: parking options and transportation solutions

Algonquin College is excited to be the host venue for Rogers Hometown Hockey!

The two-day hockey festival is heading to our Ottawa Campus for a celebration of hockey on Nov. 3 and 4.
Everyone is invited to join us this weekend for a free event celebrating all things hockey!

More information on the event can be found on the Rogers Hometown Hockey Facebook Event page.

Set-up and impact on parking

Set up for this event will begin the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Tear-down will be complete by 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5. The main impact on employees and students will be on Nov. 1 and 2, as more parking is available on campus on weekends.

Approximately 200 parking spots on the northwest side of Lot 8 will be affected by this event – click here for a map showing this area.

Here are some transportation solutions for Nov. 1 and 2:

  • Leave your car at home:
    • Carpool with your colleagues and classmates
    • Park and Ride at one of the many OC Transpo Park and Rides in Ottawa.
    • Take advantage of the U-Pass and the great proximity of Baseline station to campus.
    • Park in one of the 60 designated free spots at the Pinecrest Recreation Complex – just 2 kms from campus (2250 Torquay Ave) and a short ride on the 88 bus.
  • Lot 8 (red) permit holders can also park in Lots 9, 10 and 12.
  • Lot 9 (green) permit holders can also park in Lot 12.
  • Permit holders can park in temporary special event parking if all other lots are full (across from Lot 12 — weather dependent)

Parking Services representatives will also be available in the lots through the set-up and event to assist with finding parking spaces.

Algonquin College student and employee participation includes:

  • 20 volunteer opportunities per day, for a total of 40 volunteer positions
  • 30 part-time employment opportunities over the two days, many filled by Event Management students.
  • CKDJ/Algonquin Times will have the chance to interview Ron MacLean/Tara Slone, as well as cover the event
