College community responds to power outage

The Algonquin College community is rallying to respond after Friday’s devastating storm and power outage.

In the aftermath of the storm, parts of the College and surrounding neighbourhoods were left without power well into the weekend. An influx of visitors to the campus caused increased demand for food and beverages and long lines began to form at several on-campus locations.

On Sunday, Campus Services will have more culinary and service staff on site to respond to this increased demand, especially at 35th Street Market Café in Residence, where there was substantially more food purchased on Saturday than usual. More staff will also be brought in to work at Tim Horton’s on campus and Starbucks in the Student Commons will also remain open.

As well, the Salons in D Building will be open and available for people to charge their phones and a complimentary coffee station will be set up for visitors to the campus.

Campus Services will be monitoring the situation closely and responding to demand as it arises.
