If you want to put on a great party, you have to be a great host. And Algonquin College, together with Ottawa Tourism, Ottawa 2017, the City of Ottawa, and La Cité, has developed an online tool that will help us – all of us – be just that for the millions of visitors expected to visit the capital for the 150th anniversary festivities.
Click here to check out the tool.
The Ottawa 2017 Host 150 Training Tool uses videos, scenarios and surveys to give Ottawa residents, Ottawa 2017 volunteers, and frontline hospitality workers a refresher on being a good host. There’s a different learning stream for each group, and they all have concrete learning objectives. When a person completes a learning stream, they are presented with a certificate.
The tool also gives a great overview of what’s happening in Ottawa this year, so that everyone who takes the training will have that information to share.
Over the course of this project, five professors in four departments and 60 volunteers came forward. Fourteen people made significant contributions to the project, including the lead project manager, Christopher Elliot, and academic manager Sandra Larwill.
If you would like to complete the training yourself we recommend clicking here, to get started!
