Industry endorsements for the Mobile Application Design & Development diploma program.

I am writing this letter to lend my endorsement to the proposed Mobile Application Development Diploma program at Algonquin College. As Network Operations, Team Lead at QNX Software Systems I have witnessed, first-hand, the rapid growth of the mobile technology field and its impact on how we conduct our own operations.

I believe that Algonquin College’s move to create a program which prepares students for a career in mobile design and development will be of great benefit to the Ottawa community. There is already demand for students with the skills that this program will teach. By the time the first class graduates, in 2014, this demand should be exponentially greater.

In the last year, I have seen hand in hand the rapid growth in the mobile app world. Especially since QNX developed the Blackberry playbook. Getting to work closely with the success of the Playbook l can see a strong market in apps developed tablet devices and smart phones. With the new program MAD students will get the opportunity in getting to learn how to create every day apps that will change the way people interact with their mobile devices.
