Required Equipment

Either a MacBook or Windows laptop are required for this program. Something to consider would be what program you are interested in going into following this program – the Music Industry Arts program or the Film and Media Production program.

Specs are below for both Apple Macbook and Windows based laptops.

MIA (Music Industry Arts) Recommended:
Apple MacBook Pro (M1 Chip with 8-Core CPU and 8-Core GPU) with minimum 256GB of Storage

Alternative: MacBook Pro from 2016 or newer running minimum Mojave OS.

16GB RAM or greater

Two Thunderbolt 3 ports

i5 processor or better.

Film & Media Production:

Intel Core i7 or equivalent processor

32 GB or more of RAM**

1TB or larger hard drive**

15 inch or larger screen

1 full size USB port

Dedicated Video Card with at least 2GB of RAM

Windows 10 (Home, Educational, or Pro versions). Note: Windows 10S is not recommended for use at Algonquin College.
