Design student

As mandated by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), Algonquin College is required to publish information to the public regarding student achievement.

The interior design program leading to the Bachelor of Interior Design is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, www.accredit-id.org, 206 Grandville Avenue, Suite 350, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

The CIDA-accredited program prepares students for entry-level interior design practice, for advanced study, and to apply for membership in professional interior design organizations. The Bachelor of Interior Design granted by Algonquin College meets the educational requirement for eligibility to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification Examination (NCIDQ Exam). Student Attrition and Retention – 1st year only:

94% of students admitted in the fall of 2020 returned in the fall of 2021,
putting attrition at 6%.

98% of students admitted in the fall of 2019 returned in the fall of 2020,
putting attrition at 2%.

76% of students admitted in the fall of 2018 returned in the fall of 2019,
putting attrition at 24%.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Interior Design Program report the following employment rates:

In 2020, 71% of the graduates surveyed were employed, 67% reported that their work was related to the program, 33% reported that it was partially related.

In 2019, 86% of the graduates surveyed were employed, 100% reported that their work was related to the program, 0% reported that it was partially related.

In 2018, 100% of the graduates surveyed were employed, 73% reported that their work was related to the program, 0% reported that it was partially related.

In 2017, 97% of the graduates surveyed were employed, 86% reported that their work was related to the program, 12% reported that it was partially related.

Student workAcceptance into Graduate Programs

Graduates of the Bachelor of Interior Design Program have successfully been accepted into graduate programs in disciplines including museum set design, healthcare design, communication design, urban planning, interior design, and architecture. Surveys administered at the program level indicate the following:
