Neil Hunter, coordinator and professor at Algonquin College’s animation program, understands Gen Z’s needs well. He tells Toon Boom, “[A top animation program] has to be something you can use right away. As far as students go, they want to see that what they’re learning has value. They’re very savvy — they come here for education because they want a job.”

The attached picture shows Trent Correy, Algonquin College Animation graduate 2008, with Walt Disney Studios’ Oscar for Big Hero 6. This is the second Oscar winning movie Trent has worked on since joining Disney, the first being Frozen (2013). Congratulations Trent!
On August 25th, 2014, Mercury Filmworks’ own Graham MacDonald, an Algonquin Animation grad, was named a winner at this year’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Check out the full story here.
