The Human Services Foundations program also includes laddering, with reserved seats in and transfer credits to related pathway programs at Algonquin.

This one-year Design Foundations Ontario College Certificate allows you to develop fundamental design skills and to explore a range of design-related disciplines in order to discover where your strengths and interests lie.
Throughout the program you develop foundational knowledge and skills used in a variety of design elements such as:
- principles of design and layout
- typography
- drawing and sketching
- perspective
- colour theory
- 3D structure
- time management
- web design
- industry-standard software.
Drawing Foundations for Animation and Illustration
This one-year Drawing Foundations for Animation and Illustration Ontario College Certificate helps you to develop the strong drawing skills that are necessary for your evolution as an artist to further your education in various creative visual art programs.
Expand your potential, using a wide variety of digital and traditional mediums to build creative works, while discovering your strengths and preferences along the way. Immersed in a studio environment, you explore life drawing, sculpting, and character, environment and creature design. You also create appealing environments that encompass a sense of character and a “lived-in feel” using proper perspective, texture and detail. Sculpting and painting with digital tools and software solidifies your understanding of the properties of light, value and colour and their influence in a 3D environment.
The one-year Human Services Foundation Ontario College Certificate allows you to explore career opportunities within human services and prepare for the most appropriate academic and professional pathway for you. Human services supports individuals, families and communities to attain a higher quality of life. As a student, you examine how different human services professionals collaborate to contribute to a better society.
In this program, you develop core skills that are common to all areas of human services such as relationship building, team work and stress management. You increase your own awareness of issues of diversity and inclusion in Canada and how social issues influence human and community development. You develop a strong understanding of client and community needs and the impact that systemic barriers have on marginalizing specific populations. This exploration empowers you to select a population group and industry that you would like to focus on. You develop academic skills and career planning skills to support you through the next stages of your academic study.
Music, Media and Film Foundation
Define your interest in music, media and film production in the one-year Music, Media and Film Foundation Ontario College Certificate program. As a student, you explore career opportunities in the music, media and film industry and develop foundational skills to prepare you for further post-secondary study in film, radio, television or music industry arts.
In this program, you build fundamental techniques in audio and video production and apply them within a studio environment. You develop storytelling skills, allowing your message to reach audiences in an influential way. You plan and prepare for further education and the industry, focusing on the academic and professional skills that will help you get there. In this program, you work collaboratively to create media assets, learning the many roles that function together in the music, media and film industry.
Science and Technology Foundations
Innovations in science and technology have improved our daily lives by making the world easier to navigate and more accessible. The one-year Science and Technology Foundations Ontario College Certificate allows you to explore academic and career opportunities within the fields of applied science and technology, while developing fundamental skills in these areas and preparing you for a well-suited academic and professional pathway.
