Student Experience
What to Expect
Students in the Interactive Media Design program at Algonquin College work on projects in a team-based environment and learn about the multimedia industry with a hands-on approach. Students are taught the tools of trade from start with no prior knowledge required, progressing into advanced courses, team-based projects and experiential learning. Students acquire skills in design, user experience, photography, videography, and front-end web development. There are course options to choose form in level 3 and 4 which allow students to dive deeper into skills that align with their career goals.

Successful graduates get employed in positions such as web developer, graphic designer, UX/UI designer, multimedia specialists, and social media content creators, and in other industry-related fields.
Work-Integrated Learning
Throughout the program students are exposed to experiential learning in multiple classes through mock clients, simulated workplace environments, case studies, hands-on industry-based projects, and more.
The work integrated learning opportunities in the program are:
- Co-op – Students could prepare and apply for CO-OP positions and work in the industry for one term.
- Applied Projects – The final level of the program includes a team based Applied Project.
