Educational Technology Roadmap for Algonquin

About the Roadmap

Learning and Teaching Services (LTS) and Information Technology Services (ITS) are partnering to develop an Educational Technology Roadmap for the college.

The roadmap will:

  1. Provide an inventory of the kind of educational technology tools used by faculty – in addition to those provided by Brightspace
  2. Establish a planning approach to identify needs, prioritize purchases, conduct pilots, and manage licensing.

This project is being done in consultation with the College Technology Committee – Academic (CTC-A).

The roadmap will be based on information collected through four main activities:

  1. Needs Assessment
    Conduct focus groups and surveys with faculty, deans and academic chairs.
  2. Current State Inventory of Commonly-Used Educational Technology Tools (in addition to Brightspace)
    Identify digital teaching and learning tools in use by various programs.
  3. Future State Analysis
    Review strategic college documents (such as the Learner-Driven Plan, Business Plan, and Strategic Plan) to determine how college priorities may be supported by adoption of certain digital learning and teaching tools.
  4. Review of Educational Technology Landscape
    Research commonly adopted educational technologies and emerging digital learning/teaching trends.
