My Mediasite is a new video web portal that supports greater student engagement with learning content. Mediasite Mosaic is the accompanying recording software that allows you to record your desktop, camera and audio to produce screencasts and video lessons, and has replaced TechSmith Relay (as well as the older software, Mediasite Desktop Recorder).

My Mediasite will host these presentations, and has a Brightspace integration that allows you to embed content directly within courses. Presentations can be edited in the portal and can be enhanced by adding interactive features such as Q&A forums, polls, quizzes and annotations.

FAQ: Details such as how long videos will be retained on the site, how much storage space is allocated to each individual user, and other points relating to the acceptable use of the site can be found in our Frequently Asked Questions, and information will be updated there as things change over time.

Sharing Presentations

Once you’re ready to share your presentation, use the Who Can View? slider in the presentation menu to decide who can see the presentation. Please note that only people with a link will be able to access the presentation. You have a few different options to link people to the presentation:

  1. Use the Share Presentation button to get a quick link or an embed code for your presentation, or to invite people by email to view the presentation.
  2. In a Brightspace course, in Content, use Upload/Create to Create a File to set up a content page, and use Insert Stuff > Mediasite Content, choosing an existing presentation to add to the course. This can also be done in content item descriptions, announcements, and anywhere else in Brightspace where the text editor and Insert Stuff appear.
  3. Alternatively in a Brightspace course, navigate to Tools > My Mediasite in the navbar, click on the presentation and Edit Details, and then scroll down the information tab to Add Module, at which point you can click on your Brightspace course. The presentation will then display via Tools > Mediasite Videos.

Interactive Presentation Elements

My Mediasite provides many opportunities for formative assessment in line with presentations, as well as quizzes which can be used as formative or summative assessment and can link to the Brightspace gradebook. Here are some of the options when working with a presentation:

  1. Click on Edit Details, and on the Player tab you have the option to Enable Q&A Forums allowing viewers to submit time-stamped questions that you can categorize and reply to, giving you an idea of how well your content is being understood or how it is prompting learners to engage further with the material.
  2. Also under Edit Details, you can Enable Polls. You then need to go back to the main menu for the presentation and use Edit Polls to set up poll questions and responses. This is great for quick knowledge checks or to seek opinions or feelings about the content being presented.
  3. In the main menu for a presentation, use Edit Quizzes to add study guide or scored assessment questions, with a range of options for how questions and feedback are displayed. Quizzes need to be published and then enabled under Edit Details.
  4. You can add presentations to a channel and give learners access to this channel to be able to annotate presentations and respond to the annotations of others. This is great for presentations that you are using to spark discussions. Use Edit Details to toggle between moderated or unmoderated annotations.
