Welcome to Brightspace at Algonquin College!
Brightspace is Algonquin College’s Learning Management System (LMS), managed by the Digital Learning Environment (DLE) Team. It serves as a portal to access all digital materials associated with courses and programs, fosters communications amongst students and faculty via a number of tools, provides a platform to conduct assessments and surveys, and allows the College to track the progress of its learners in an effort to better serve their diverse needs.
This site is meant to provide employees and students with the resources they need to make effective use of the many tools available to them in Brightspace.

News and Communication
Brightspace Update: The DL Team publishes updates about Brightspace and integrated technologies for faculty and staff on a regular basis. The update is posted as an announcement in Brightspace which emails faculty and instructor inboxes. The update is also published in MyAC. To review the most recent announcements, login to Brightspace, and look for the Announcement widget on the institutional homepage.
Educational Technology Pilots and Projects: The Digital Learning team and Educational Technologists at Learning and Teaching Services work together on integrating and piloting new educational technology tools. If you are interested in piloting a new tool, or are looking to integrate a new technology, please send an email with your request to lts@algonquincollege.com
Training and Support Resources
A range of resources exist to help you use Brightspace effectively. Explore some of the following resources:
- Algonquin College’s Knowledge Base (KB site): The Knowledge Base site provides help guides and instructional materials to support self-directed use of Brightspace. Visit the Knowledge Base site if you’re looking for instructional guides on Brightspace at Algonquin.
- Learning and Teaching Service’s Brightspace Essentials training: A self-guided, asynchronous training course is available for self-enrollment. The course provides the basics of Brightspace setup and use for teaching.
- DL team consultation and support: The DL Team at Learning and Teaching Services is available to do one on one consultation and support for your use of Brightspace. Visit the “How to get Assistance” page for more information.
- D2L Community site: Create an account with the D2L Brightspace Community site! This vendor resources allows Brightspace users to preview upcoming changes to the system, engage in webinars and training, to post feature requests, and to engage in discussions with other Brightspace users across the world. You will also find helpful instructions on the community site to help you use Brightspace more effectively.
- Product Ideas Exchange (PIE): The Product Idea Exchange is a forum inside the Brightspace Community site where Brightspace users can make suggestions to improve the LMS, as well as vote on the ideas presented by other Brightspace users. To view and participate in the PIE, you’ll need to make a (free) Brightspace Community account.
