Retirements

The Live Laugh Learn Editorial Team would like to thank all employees who have retired this year for their many years of dedicated service and send wishes for a Very Happy Retirement!

We would also like to share a few memories from Lorenzo Bruno and Marilyn Gallant’s farewell with AC friends.

Strange Dilemmas…

How could ignorance creep in desires – surreptitious,
How come heart is somewhere else – sounds mysterious!

How we wish to fly up the hurricanes alive,
Where our hearts reach every moment – every single dream we strive!

Strange dilemma stays – nostalgia snips ‘n’ stares,
Still nasty feelings gather fast – all truth no farce!

Subtle gestures and the notes – expressions just like Meeks,
Survival in the dreams – through surviving all those dreams!

Nurturing delicate feelings – pampering sensuous thoughts,
May we meet up – be one as we are in our thoughts!

‘Twas the Week Before Christmas

By Catherine Lee

‘Twas the week before Christmas, when all through Ulla’s house
Not a spot was undecorated, not even a spouse.
The table was set in the dining room with care,
In hopes that Book Club ladies soon would appear.

The ladies were nestled all snug in their finery
In hopes that Saint Martha would produce fine dinery.
MJ in her heels and Cath in her blanket
Had just settled down for a warm winter’s banquet.

When out in the kitchen there arose such a clatter
I put down my wine glass to see what was the matter.
Into the kitchen I flew like a flash
Tore open the oven and threw open the stash.

The asparagus and chicken on warm vol-au-vent
Came after the soup pot which was served en-avant.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But three kinds of chocolate, so we all gave a cheer.

When a sweet little old lady all lively and fun
Came down to join us before we had begun.
She sat at the table head, just by the bread,
And chatted as Cathleen tried doilies on her head.

Now Catherine, now MJ, now Karen & Ulla,
On Cathleen, on Cathy, on Joanne & Linda.
Back to the living room with your coffee and mint tea
To have a nice book chat around the lit tree.

Then we sprang to our sleighs to head home in the snow
’Cause some had to work in the a.m. you know.
But I heard her exclaim as she headed for the dishes
You left me a mess, your place next, you bitches.

Merry Christmas to All & To All a Good-night!
