Dan StoddardDreams do come true!

Sometimes by rubbing a magic lamp or by finding a fairy godmother. In other cases, dreams are realized through hard work, determination and never saying never. Oh, a bit of encouragement by a someone who believes in you.

Check out this heart-warming story of Dan Stoddard, a 38-year old OC Transpo bus driver who was recently recruited for and made the Algonquin Thunder Men’s Basketball Team. Encouraged by the Thunder’s coach Trevor Costello, Dan started to work out for 2 hours every day while juggling his job and family life. He shed 50 pounds and showed up for training camp. Against huge odds, Dan made the cut and has played in every Thunder game this season.

Dan’s mantra: “Success begins with self-belief. And I believe in myself 1,000 per cent, all day long.”
