The International Education Centre (IEC) is a safe place for you to come to seek help and advice. Our advisors are available to meet with you one-on-one in a private environment to discuss your situation and offer support, both from our office and within the college community. Please note that walk-in appointments are not available. Whether you prefer to meet with someone in person or online, you need to use the link above to make the appointment. If you need immediate help, don’t forget you have access to Counselling and Health Services.

Health Services – 1st Floor of C-Building, Room C141 – 613-727-4723 ext. 5237. meet with a nurse or doctor on campus. If you are feeling anxious, stressed, not sleeping, not eating, you should make an appointment. Be sure to bring your GuardMe card with you when visiting the office. Your GuardMe card information is available in your AC email.

We offer a variety of programs and services that will provide the academic solution you need.

Student Learning Centre

Coaching Lab (C260) – offers all students individual and small group coaching at no charge. International Students can book a 1-hour session with a coach in the Student Learning Centre to discuss academic challenges and learn about strategies to help in their studies. Academic Coaches can help with study skills, note-taking, writing and grammar, speaking and pronunciation, research, presentations, and report writing. International students can bring their course outlines, textbook, assignment requirements, a written paper, etc. Drop by the IEC, in Student Central, room C021 to book an appointment or visit the SLC website.

Peer Tutoring for Full-time Academic Students – a peer tutor is a fellow student, usually in a higher level, who offers one-on-one support in the course you need help in. Peer tutoring is offered online and in-person. Peer Tutoring is $8 per hour. The IEC can provide you with 10 hours of free tutoring. You will require a letter from the IEC approving free tutoring hours in order to access tutoring. To request a Peer Tutoring sponsorship letter, complete the form here.

Presentation Studio (Room C262) – is a space where you can rehearse or record presentations. It is equipped with multimedia equipment and a movable green wall to suit a variety of presentation needs.

Academic Success Workshops – you can participate in workshops to develop and strengthen fundamental skills such as research, writing, math, digital skills, and study skills to help you succeed in your classes and career. The workshops are free and offered online and in-person.

Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) – 3rd floor of Student Commons -CAL provides academic accommodations and educational support services for students who have permanent and/or temporary disabilities.

The Multimedia Language Centre (MMLC) – for students in the English for Academic Purposes program to practice their language skills with the aid of language-learning computer programs — focussing on specific skills, such as editing, writing, grammar, listening and pronunciation. Visit the lab in room B453. For Academic Support, visit the Language Institute in room B442.

Essential Study Skills -Student Support Services has launched an Essential Study Skills website that offers tips, videos, activities, and tools to help achieve academic success, and covers practical skills such as time management, stress management, reading and note taking, and studying and test-taking. It also includes tools and information to help students cope with the demands of college life. The Essential Study Skills site is a collaborative project from Counselling Services, the Centre for Accessible Learning, and the Library. More units and content will continue to be added.
