Our Purpose

Pairing new international students (mentees) with experienced peers (mentors) to foster connections and a sense of community at Algonquin College.

Why should you join the International Peer Mentor Program (IPM)?

  • Make new friends and grow your network at Algonquin College
  • Get invites to IPM exclusive events and activities
  • Join a welcoming community where you can take a study break, relax and recharge

Role of International Peer Mentors

  • Help new students transition into life at Algonquin College
  • Provide new students with information that can help them succeed in their studies
  • Connect students to college resources and services
  • Help new students develop friendships and become part of the College community
  • Encourage students to participate in events and activities (On/off campus)

International Peer Mentors are students in level 2 and up who volunteer their time to assist new international students during their transition to life at Algonquin College and Ottawa. International peer mentors are a great resource for new international students and can offer information and support to students on campus. This program is open to all full-time enrolled students who are in their second semester or higher and who are in good academic standing at Algonquin College.
