International Peer Mentor Application
Sign up to be a mentor in Algonquin College’s International Peer Mentor Program. Complete the application form today.
Registration opens for Winter 2025 term on November 6 and closes on November 22. You will be contacted by the Program’s organizer shortly after completing the application. If you have any questions, please reach out to internationalmentor@algonquincollege.com.
Note: When the capacity of the program is reached, you will be put on a waitlist.

| Eligibility | -Current student in level 2 or above studying at the Ottawa campus of Algonquin College -Highly engaged student willing to commit to at least 1 hour of their time per week to the program |
| Benefits of Becoming a Mentor | -Develop your skills (leadership, communication, organization, coordination etc.) -Make a positive impact and contribute to your communities -Receive a Certificate of Participation upon completion of the program and/or a Co-Curricular Record Credit (CCR) |
| Responsibilities | -Complete a 1-hour training session -Send introduction email to assigned mentees and maintain communication until the end of the semester -Attend either the Meet and Greet or the New International Student Social (both are in person) -Schedule at least 1 meet up per month with your mentee(s) -Offer help and support to mentees when they need it |
| What to Expect | -You will receive an email shortly after you register with information on training sessions -Once you complete the training you will be added to the following: the IPM Brightspace for mentors where you will get important information and reminders about the program and to the WhatsApp group chat where all members of the program can easily connect. -You will be matched with your mentee(s) 2 weeks before the new term begins and may be assigned more throughout the semester depending on your preferences -You will be invited to attend and volunteer at as many events as your schedule allows -You will make connections will students from all over the world and build some lasting friendships! |
