Computer Systems Technology-Security Program
Students in the Computer Systems Technology – Security program at Algonquin College develop the theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on skills to assess, recommend, implement, and troubleshoot various advanced security solutions and countermeasures. Students employ common tools and techniques used in digital forensics and investigations, explore how to effectively participate in the investigation process, and deploy modern security countermeasures against threats to the IT infrastructure.

The Office of Applied Research & Innovation brings together Algonquin College’s talented professors and students with greater Ottawa’s business, industry, and community organizations to collaborate on applied research projects that provide practical solutions to every day issues and create new and innovative products and services.

Come and meet Michael Power, a leading legal authority on Canadian privacy law and issues concerning the protection of personal information. Michael will sign copies of his latest book, The Law of Privacy, available at Connections, the campus store.

The Law of Privacy is a comprehensive treatise providing a thorough overview of Canadian privacy law. Privacy can be a difficult concept to grasp. It is highly contextual with a fluidity that poses legal and ethical challenges for individuals, business organizations and even government institutions. Nonetheless, privacy concerns are becoming increasingly important in today’s information-gathering society and there has been extraordinary growth in the law of privacy in the last two decades.
