What is the main purpose of Algonquin College Cyber Security Day?
October 2014 marks the 11th Annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month. Last year was Algonquin College’s first ever participation in the event. This year, we are featuring a free one-day conference and trade show held in Algonquin’s new 800-seat theatre. You won’t want to miss it!
This will be a very unique event, with highly thought-provoking Canadian speakers. There are promotional opportunities for InfoSec and Data Privacy vendors to show off their security solutions and services, right outside the theatre, and for other partners to provide technical demonstrations or feature information about careers in cyber security.
The intent is to engage and educate public and private sector partners through events and initiatives with the goal of raising awareness about cyber security and increasing the data safety of people, organizations and governments.
Who should attend?
We are inviting EVERYONE in the community who has an interest in cyber security and data privacy, including area high school, college and university students interested in a related career, federal security officials, InfoSec related companies and their staff, and concerned parents.
Will this be annual event?
We hope so! Let’s give this a try and see where it takes us! There is so much we want to try, do, demonstrate and show! This event is what we collectively make of it!
