James Tucker

James Tucker is a Principal in the Toronto office of the Boston Consulting Group and core member of BCG’s Public Sector Practice and Social Impact Interest Network. His professional practice is focused on helping clients realize the full potential value of their operations and assets by optimizing operations, organizations and revenue. James has extensive international experience leading teams in Canada, USA, UK, Australia & Scandinavia. In addition to his for profit work James has worked extensively with not for profit and charitable organizations on multiple topics including:

  1. Advised the board of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada on organization redesign and change management, chaired the communications sub-committee
  2. Worked with the founders to develop concept, vision & strategy for The Next 36
  3. Led  impact assessment and wrote an SROI research paper for JA Canada
  4. Sits on the board of directors of WestPark Healthcare Centre
  5. Co led the development of BCG Toronto's Community Engagement Model
  6. Led the landscape review and assessment for Canada's Charitable sector
  7. Developed BCG point of view on social impact bonds
  8. Multiple speaking engagements on SROI, CM, CSR & impact investing
  9. Developed a study on the Canadian Charitable Sector

            Prior to joining BCG James spent over 15 years focused on sales, marketing and business development in the media, technology and beverage alcohol industries.
James holds a BA in English Literature (specializing in poetry) from York University, an MBA through the Rotman School of Management and is designated as a Six Sigma Black Belt. James graduated from Rotman at the top of his class, making the Dean’s List with Highest Distinction, was named a Bregman Scholar and class Valedictorian. For his community work, James was recently invested with the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
