James Gray-Donald was appointed Associate Vice-President & Sustainability Leader, Sears Canada, in April, 2008. His role is to develop a roadmap for Sears Canada to become a leader in sustainability, help maintain a culture that supports this position in the marketplace and consult with internal teams and external organizations to implement appropriate programs and processes for the Company.
Prior to joining Sears, James was Research Coordinator at the Centre for Sustainable Futures (University of Plymouth, U.K.) which had the largest financial support in the world, from a government, to research the integration of sustainability inside a university.
After earning his undergraduate degree at McGill University, James obtained a Masters degree in Environmental Geography at the University of Toronto and received his doctorate in Adult Education and Environmental Studies from there in 2005.
James is a board member of Ontario Electronics Stewardship.
James was born in Montreal and is the middle of three sons. He enjoys playing various sports with friends and family with a particular fondness for cross-country skiing and passion for Ultimate Frisbee, a sport characterized by fairness, sportsmanship and the joy of play.
