Alden Hadwen
Alden Hadwen is Director of Community Engagement at Aimia in the Canadian region. She has overall responsibility for the development and management of all aspects of Aeroplan’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program including Community Investment, Environmental Stewardship, and Employee Engagement.
Part of the Aeroplan team for over 15 years, Alden was instrumental in writing Aeroplan’s first Code of Ethics. She has led the creation of innovative interrelated CSR programs throughout the business, involving employees at all levels and also Aeroplan Members and business partners. She helped create, and subsequently expanded, the on-line donation program Beyond Miles in 2004 of which Engineers Without Borders – Canada was the first partner. Alden has also built up the Aeroplan Charitable Pooling Program, as well as managed a comprehensive suite of Community engagement programs, involving volunteerism, giving back of skills and expertise and employee engagement trips to experience first hand the work of not-for-profit partners, in the field.
Alden also directs Aimia’s Environmental strategy in Canada as well as Aeroplan Canada’s Green it Up program, including the redemption program for carbon offsets on-line. She has worked closely with environmental partners Earth Day Canada and Offsetters towards raising environmental awareness. Aeroplan offsets 100 per cent of all travel and car rentals undertaken by our founding Charitable Partners using donated Aeroplan Miles.
In addition, working with the Art Gallery of Ontario, Alden played a key role in devising a new model for partnership in supporting arts & culture, which has resulted in the annually awarded Grange Prize, for the best in International Contemporary Photography.
In 2011, Alden led the introduction of a new Beyond Miles Speakers Series, which will be expanded in 2012. She is a published poet.
