Supplies & Uniform Requirements
1. Supplies
- Right and Left Markers- approx. $30 to be purchased at Algonquin College Connections Campus Store. Must be carried for all labs and clinical practicum. These markers are used to identify the right and left side of the body part on a radiographic image.
- Name tag- approx. $15 (with taxes) ordered and purchased at Algonquin College Connections Campus Store. Must be worn for all lab and clinical practicum.
2. Clinical/ Practical lab Uniform Requirements
Algonquin College uniform: You will only need 1 uniform –pant and top for the first term (Please note: These are not available in Algonquin College Connections Campus Store.)
The dress code, resulting in a unified professional look for all clinical and lab sessions, is as follows:
- Tops and Pants
- Scrub pants- Any style, Any make (no yoga/ gym pants) Solid BLACK colour
- Scrub Tops- Any style, Any make, Color: Dark Gray (also named slate/pewter/ charcoal
- Pockets- Make sure that you have a required number of pockets (your preference) to carry with you a pen, your lead markers, and your TLD.
- Closed toe and heel shoes (colored shoes and/or white).
- Please ensure that your shoes are comfortable and offer support as you will be on your feet for an extended period of time during lab and clinical practicum. Running shoes are acceptable but must be kept clean.
- Radiation Dose Monitoring Requirements (TLD) (Algonquin College issued)
- Registration with the Radiation Protection Bureau’s National Dosimetry Service is mandatory as a radiation worker. Please bring your Social Insurance Number with you for the Medical Radiation Technology Program Orientation.
