Mandatory Clinical Placement Requirements
To be eligible for clinical placement as a Medical Radiation Technology student, you must complete and submit the following program specific requirements:
1. Medical and Non-Medical Requirements:
Screening for immunity to certain diseases and verifying that your immunizations are up to date is a requirement of this program.

Please note: This process usually takes a minimum of 2 -3 weeks to complete, but may take up to 8 weeks based on your immunization history.
As the COVID vaccination rollout continues, in case you also require any other vaccinations or TB testing, please be advised of the guidelines below:
- As recommended by the National Advisory Commission on Immunization (NACI) COVID-19 vaccines should not be given at the same time as other vaccines. There should be a period of 14 days after administration of other vaccine before receiving the COVID-19 vaccination. Once a dose of COVID-19 vaccine is administered there needs to be a waiting period of 28 days prior to receiving other vaccines.
- TB testing can be completed any time prior to administration of COVID-19 vaccine or 28 days post COVID-19 vaccine dose.
2. Police Records Check Documentation:
It is your responsibility to obtain the PRCSVS from your local Police Department prior to the start of the program by Term 1 September 15th/Winter intake: January 15th and to pay any associated costs. It may take a long time to obtain this documentation; please submit your application as early as possible. You will be required to disclose the contents of the PCRSVS, including all notations, to the lab placement agencies. You can request a letter of confirmation of registration to the MRT program for your PRCSVS through Sylvie Ferguson ferguss@algonquincollege.com or Sherri Pagnan at pagnans@algonquincollege.com.
3. Proof of Covid19 Vaccination:
Proof of Covid19 Vaccination: Required for program labs to be submitted by Term 1- Sept 15th/Winter intake: January 15th via “Placement Pass” by Paramed
4. Clinical Placement Eligibility:
Successful completion of clinical placement is a requirement for graduation from the Medical Radiation Technology program. To be eligible to participate in clinical placement activities, you must complete ParaMed requirements and submit:
- Proof of a clear (PRCSVS)- annual requirement- Term 1 Sept 15th/Winter intake: January 15th and Term 3 Oct 30th . You may be required to disclose the contents of the PRCSVS, including all notations, to the placement agencies.
- Evidence of a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Training C.P.R. Basic Rescuer `C` Level certification and Standard First Aid certification to be submitted by Term 3- Oct 30th
- Evidence of mask fit-tested for N-95 equivalent masks required for infection-control measures as required by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Guidelines to be submitted by Term 3- Oct 30th
- A Health Assessment Form and provide an Immunization Certificate. Applicants must have complete immunization including Hepatitis B, and annual T.B. test (a Chest X-ray is required if the T.B. test is positive) and are required to have annual immunization for influenza by some clinical affiliates to be submitted by Term 3- Oct 30th
- All ParaMed Clinical/Field Pre-Placement Health requirements to be submitted by Term 3- Oct 30th. Applicants must have complete immunization including Hepatitis B, and annual T.B. test (a Chest X-ray is required if the T.B. test is positive) and are required to have annual immunization for influenza by some clinical affiliates. - Evidence of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Ontario Health and Safety Awareness (OHSA) Training certification.
