Exponential advancements in medical imaging technology including the integration of artificial intelligence has changed the way we deliver care and interact with our equipment. These advancements are challenging us to rethink workflows to meet the increasing demands. Although this technology has proven invaluable in our day to day work, a technologist is the essential link between this technology and true patient care.

Currently, there is a national shortage of Medical Radiation Technologists and Sonographers. Active recruitment is at an all time high with many incentives being offered. As a new graduate there are many opportunities for employment and hospitals are investing in continued professional development programs to support and invest in new staff.

For the second year in a row, CHEO has been recognized as the best employer in Canadian health care among Forbes’ annual Best Employers in Canada. This recognition represents the amazing hard work and dedication of our staff, medical staff and learners. Their commitment, drive and passion are a winning formula that ensures we deliver world-class care to children, youth and families.

Advice for students is to look for an organization that invests in their employees and matches the work you put in.
