Admission Information and How to Apply
The Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing Bridging Pathway is a collaborative program with the University of Ottawa (UOttawa), and the admissions process is managed through the Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC) (Program code: ONA (Woodroffe campus) and OWC (Pembroke campus).
The application window for the January 2026 intake will be between mid-September, 2025 and mid-October, 2025.

Admission Criteria
Please note: Program admission criteria is managed by the University of Ottawa, and where there are discrepancies between the information below and the UOttawa website, the UOttawa website is considered the correct information.
To be eligible for the Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing Bridging Pathway program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Prerequisites are:
- ENG4U (satisfied by the Practical Nursing program)
- Biology 4U (SBI4U)
- Chemistry 4U (SCH4U)
- Math (one of the following): Functions 3M (MCF3M), Functions 3U,(MCR3U) or one Mathematics 4U (MDM4U or MHF4U or MCV4U)
- A minimum average of 65% is required for each pre-requisite course (or equivalent).
Other requirements include:
- Two-year Ontario College Diploma (or equivalent) in Practical Nursing.
- If the applicant has not graduated the previous Spring, they need to have practiced as an RPN in Ontario within the last 5 years at full scope of practice for a minimum of six (6) consecutive months full-time or part-time
OR
If the applicant has received their RPN license within the past calendar year (prior to the January start date).
For example, if the applicant graduated in 2024, they can apply in the fall of 2024 to begin the program in January of 2025. -
A minimum calculated admission average of 75%, as calculated by the University of Ottawa. Admission to the program is competitive, based on grades. Applicants will need to submit official transcripts of all post-secondary education, including any courses, or programs in process, partially completed, and/or fully completed.
- College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) registration in good standing
- Successful completion of a medication calculation test. (This will be an admission condition received with an offer of admission).
- Applicants who have a two year Practical Nursing Diploma from another province who are seeking equivalence should contact the University of Ottawa at admissions@Uottawa.ca. Applicants should be sure to include that they are asking about the Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing Bridging Pathway.
- Equivalent to high school pre-requisites options include: adult high school, online independent learning courses, or the pre-health for advanced diplomas and degrees program certificate (two semesters) at Algonquin College (65% for each required course as above).
