Orientation Information
AC Day 1: Personal Support Worker
To start the semester off on the right foot, the first day of classes will be an orientation to help you get to know the College, your classmates, and your professors. The mandatory orientation will include activities such as:
- Explaining your timetable and term schedule
- Program requirements
- Filling out the mandatory pre-clinical documents
- Meet and greet your classmates
- Learning where you’ll be learning, both classrooms and labs
- An introduction to Campus Services
College orientation activities are planned by the Student Affairs and Orientation Department throughout the day. Please check the orientation website to find the program specific information session time and other planned events.
Please bring the following with you to AC Day 1:
- Your Algonquin College Student Number: (040…)
- Your Algonquin College timetable (Here’s how if you need help)
The information you will receive during this session is essential to your success in the Personal Support Worker Program. In addition to our program session, you are encouraged to take part in AC College-wide workshops, including Brightspace training and other events.
AC Day 1 is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn more about the services and facilities available at the College. If you haven’t already done so, you can also take this opportunity to rent a locker, finish setting up your digital accounts, and purchase any texts, manuals, and clothing from the Connections Bookstore.
Things you can do before AC Day 1:
Here are some things you can do online, before you start, to make your AC Day 1 experience a bit easier:
- Start working on your mandatory pre-clinical requirements
- Follow these steps, as outlined by the Registrar’s Office, to access your ACSIS account and Brightspace account.
- Start the process online for your AC Card/U-Pass.
- Rent a locker online.
- Do you need parking? You can get a permit online, too.
- Get the lay of the land through a virtual tour.
