Scholarships
Most scholarships have no application process. The selection is completed by Financial Aid and Student Awards in recognition of academic excellence.
Awards
Some awards have an application process. For those with an application, details on the application and submission deadline can be found in the Award description. The selection is completed by the Academic Departments in recognition of academic excellence and extracurricular activities, such as volunteerism and leadership.

High School Hospitality Competition Award
Awarded to a high school student(s) enrolled in a SOHT program. The School of Hospitality and Tourism holds an annual competition with high schools students.
School of Hospitality and Tourism Career Fair Award
Awarded to a student(s) enrolled in a SOHT program who demonstrates strong communication skills, leadership and professionalism.
Smart Serve Ontario Hospitality and Tourism Scholarship
The Financial Aid and Students Awards Office will annually award $6,000 to a second (2nd) or third year (3rd) student in EACH of the following programs – for a total of three (3) scholarships:
- Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management
- Bachelor of Event, Sport, and Entertainment Management
- Bachelor of Culinary Arts and Food Science
Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management (BHTM) Program
Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Most Improved Award
Awarded to a 4th year student(s) who has exemplified the biggest improvement over the duration of the program, both professionally and academically. This student could be a bridging student or a BHTM student. (Minimum 3.0 GPA).
Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Future Hospitality Leader Award
Awarded to a Level 04 student(s) enrolled in the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management program who exemplifies the knowledge, skills, attributes and traits of a leader in hospitality. (Minimum 3.0 GPA)
Bill and June Joe Scholarship
Awarded to a Level 02 student(s) enrolled in the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management program who has a high GPA and possesses excellent customer service skills.
Canadian Association of Foodservice Professionals Award of Excellence
Awarded to a student(s) enrolled in the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Baking and Pastry, Culinary Skills, Culinary Management, Food and Nutrition or Hospitality – Hotel or Restaurant Operations Management Program, who demonstrates personal growth, industry commitment and community contribution.
Canadian Association of Foodservice Professionals Ottawa Branch Award
Awarded to a student(s) enrolled in the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Baking and Pastry, Culinary Skills, Culinary Management, Food and Nutrition or Hospitality – Hotel or Restaurant Operations Management Program, who demonstrates personal growth, industry commitment and community contribution.
Diane Houston Award in Tourism
Awarded to a First Nations, Metis or Inuit student(s) enrolled in the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management or Tourism – Travel Services program with the highest GPA. The Award is open to First Nations, Metis and Inuit with a permanent Canadian address.
Henk Hymans Award
Awarded to a returning 3rd year student(s) who has completed 4 levels of the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management program. Recipient must demonstrate the following traits: show professional promise, have the ability to communicate well and relate to others, have strong organizational and leadership skills.
Hospitality Student Success Award
Restaurant International is a culinary teaching restaurant located at Algonquin College. It serves as a hands-on learning laboratory for students enrolled in Algonquin College’s various programs in the Hospitality area.
The Hospitality Student Success Award is given to a student enrolled in any of the programs listed below:
- Hospitality – Hotel & Restaurant Operations Management (0208X)
- Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management (6225X, A, B, C, D)
- Culinary Skills – Chef Training (0206X)

Mandarin Restaurants Hospitality and Tourism Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time student(s) enrolled in either the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism or Hospitality-Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management program in their final year with the highest GPA.
Marriott Internationals Spirit to Serve Level 1 Award
Awarded to a student(s) in the 2nd year of the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Program with a minimum 3.0 GPA, who positively impacts the lives of their peers within the School of Hospitality and Tourism and demonstrates leadership within the College or the community.
Marriott Internationals Spirit to Serve Level 2 Award
Awarded to a student(s) in the 3rd year of the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Program with a minimum 3.5 GPA, who positively impacts the lives of their peers within the School of Hospitality and Tourism and demonstrates leadership within the College or the community.
Silver Hotel Group Award
Awarded to a full-time student(s) in their final year of the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management program who has demonstrated the most passion and integrity for the profession.

Canada Cutlery Award (Non-Monetary)
Awarded to a graduating student(s) in the Culinary Management program who has demonstrated strong leadership and culinary skills in the College and the industry.
Greg Vontobel Award
Awarded to a student(s) enrolled in the Culinary Management program during 2nd year who has demonstrated strong team related skills.
Les Toques Blanches Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time Level 04 student(s) enrolled in the Culinary Management program with a GPA of 3.6 or higher.
Mandarin Restaurants Hospitality and Tourism Award
Awarded to a full-time student(s) enrolled in the Culinary Management program in their final year who has demonstrated exceptional skills in their program of study.
Ron Eade Award for Culinary Commitment
Awarded to a Level 02 student(s) enrolled in the Culinary Management program who demonstrates a passion and commitment for the craft through external work and volunteerism.
Smart Serve Ontario Hospitality and Tourism Culinary Management Scholarship
The Financial Aid and Students Awards Office will annually award $2,000 to three (3) students in the second year of the Culinary Management diploma program.
Event Management Program
Celine Perrier Awards
Awarded to a graduating full-time student(s) in the Event Management program. Recipient must be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment, achieve a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, excellent management skills, and show initiative and leadership skills.
Awarded to a first-year full-time student in the Bachelor of Event, Sport and Entertainment Management program with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Recipient must be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment, achieve a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, excellent management skills, and show initiative and leadership in the Event Management Community.
Susan Pridmore Award
Awarded annually by Financial Aid and Students Awards Office on the recommendation of the School of Business and Hospitality to a women student in the Events Management program who demonstrates leadership within their field of study and community and embodies the values of perseverance, tolerance and kindness. Disbursed in Fall, Winter or Spring. Endowed in 2024 by Saam Askari, Cheryl Blake and Kimberly Robichaud.
Susan Pridmore Award
Awarded in 2024-2025 academic year, by Financial Aid and Students Awards Office on the recommendation of the School of Business and Hospitality to a women student in the Events Management program who demonstrates leadership within their field of study and community and embodies the values of perseverance, tolerance and kindness.
Terry Rodgers Award
Awarded to a graduating student in the Event Management program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who has shown passion for the industry.
The Helping Other People Everywhere (H.O.P.E.) Award
Awarded to a student(s) enrolled in the Event Management program who demonstrates volunteerism and a passion for a future in the event management industry. The award is to go towards tuition in Level 02.

Hairstyling
Rinaldo Canonico Fund Scholarship
The Rinaldo Canonico Fund Scholarship was established in memory of Rinaldo Canonico. The scholarship will be awarded to the student with the highest GPA entering their final year of the Hairstyling Diploma at the Ottawa Campus.

Claude Sauvé Hospitality and Tourism Scholarship
Awarded to a student(s) who has successfully completed Level 02 of the Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant Operations program with a high GPA.
Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management Student Council Most Improved Award
Awarded to a student(s) enrolled in the Hospitality – Hotel Restaurant Operations Management program who exemplifies superior customer services skills, leadership; demonstrates progression in the program based on overall academic improvement during Level 03.
Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management Student Council Scholarship
Awarded to a student(s) in the Hospitality – Hotel Restaurant Operations Management program with a high GPA. Recipient must have a GPA of 3.6 or higher.
Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management Student Council International Award
Awarded to an international student(s) enrolled in the Hospitality – Hotel Restaurant Operations Management program who exemplifies superior customer services skills, leadership; demonstrates progression in the program based on overall academic improvement during Level 03.

Awarded to a student(s) enrolled in either the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism or Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management program in their graduating year with the highest GPA.

Awarded to a 2nd year student(s) returning to Level 03 of the Tourism – Travel Services program who is conscientious, cooperative and helpful to others and who has fostered an atmosphere of participation in the program.
Travelport Canada Award
Awarded to a graduating student(s) in the Tourism – Travel Services program who has maintained the highest grade throughout all four levels of computer reservations.
Sommelier Program
National Capital Sommelier Guild Award
Awarded to a student(s) enrolled in the Sommelier program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who has demonstrated leadership, is passionate about wine, and goes above and beyond at volunteer events.
Sport Business Management
Harry Bloomfield Scholarship
Awarded to Level 02 students enrolled in the Sport Business Management program who demonstrate academic excellence and contribute to the overall Algonquin College student experience.
Lord Stanley Memorial Monument Inc. Scholarship
Awarded during Spring term to a student(s) enrolled in the Sport Business Management program during their final semester with a minimum 3.7 GPA. Recipient should also be active in athletics whether before attending Algonquin College or while enrolled and who continually puts the team ahead of themselves.
