Kevin Kocvar Editing Award
Awarded annually to a graduating student of the Film & Media Production program whose passion for excellence in editing is matched by their leadership, mentoring, kindness, and understanding as well as their desire to continually learn and grow in the editorial field.
Kevin was a much beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. He loved music, animals, his family and friends, and he loved his work and his co-workers. Kevin appreciated life and was always mindful of his interactions and impact on others. Kevin was an immensely respected pillar in the Ottawa production community for 30+ years in both live action & animation. Mercury Filmworks is proud to offer this award in Kevin’s memory.
The Kevin Kocvar award will provide a financial support in the total amount of $25,000 over 5 years for (domestic and international) students who are enrolled full-time in their graduating level of the following program:
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be enrolled in their graduating level of the Film and Media Production.
- Applicants must be registered full-time.
- Applicants have minimum of 3.0 grade point average.
- Both International and Domestic (Canadian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person/Convention Refugee) students are encouraged to apply.
Instructions:
- Applicants must add their Social Insurance Number via their ACSIS account in order to be awarded funding. Exceptions may apply for International students.
- Applicants will be required to submit an essay and a portfolio of their work.
- The Film and Media Production committee will also take into consideration the following attributes that were the hallmark of Kevin Kocvar’s personality:
- Kind, considerate, thoughtful
- Dedicated, reliable
- Sense of humour
- A problem-solver
- All applicants will be notified of a decision by email by August 19th.
Kevin Kocvar Editing Award Recipients:
- Recipients of the Kevin Kocvar Editing Award will receive a value of $5,000.
