Cross College Awards
A graduating student may apply for a Cross College Award(s), or may be nominated by a fellow student, faculty member, or others in the College community. There are four Cross College Awards for which a student may apply or be nominated; International House Award, President Rosser Award, Steve Stafford Memorial Continuing Education Award and the Robert C. Gillett Leadership Award.
Graduate Awards
DR. H. H. J. NESBITT AWARD
Awarded annually by the Board of Governors to the graduate with the highest academic standing.
GOVERNOR GENERAL’S MEDAL
The Governor General’s Medal (medal and certificate) is awarded to the graduate who achieved the highest academic standing in the final year of a diploma-level, post-secondary program.
INTERNATIONAL HOUSE AWARD
Awarded annually to the best all-round graduate in a degree, diploma, or certificate program, who attended Algonquin College on a student visa. Selection is based on academic achievement and active participation in extracurricular activities within the College community.
PRESIDENT ROSSER AWARD
Awarded annually to a graduate in a degree, diploma, or certificate program whose performance within the College community has been outstanding in terms of leadership and participation in student activities and who has maintained a good standard of scholastic achievement in their studies.
STEVE STAFFORD MEMORIAL AWARD
*Formally the Steve Stafford Memorial Continuing Education Award
Awarded annually to a graduate in a degree, diploma, or certificate program who demonstrated unusual or extra effort while having completed their program as a part-time student, or having completed the majority of their credential as a part-time student.
THE ROBERT C. GILLETT LEADERSHIP AWARD
Awarded annually to a graduate student in a degree, diploma, or certificate program from the Ottawa, Pembroke, Perth and Online campuses to recognize graduates who demonstrated exemplary volunteer leadership which contributed to the overall Algonquin College Student experience.
Student Services Awards
STUDENT SERVICES CALL REPRESENTATIVE AWARDS
Awarded to a student who has done an outstanding job of representing students’ interests at class representative and program council meetings and who has been instrumental in effecting positive change.
CLASS REPRESENTATIVE AWARD
This award is designed to acknowledge and reward a student who is deemed to be the most deserving class representative of those who are nominated by their classmates. The Class Representative Award will be selected for each of the three Algonquin College campuses (Ottawa, Perth, and Pembroke).
WYBOURN AWARD (STUDENT SERVICES) AWARD – Apply by April 28
The Wybourn Award is awarded on an annual basis to a student leader meeting the criteria listed below. It consists of a certificate and monetary award of $500. The Wybourn Award was created by Algonquin College’s Board of Governors in honour of Dr. Ed Wybourn, the first Dean of Student Affairs.

Dwight and Christine Powless Indigenous Achievement Scholarship
The Dwight and Christine Powless Indigenous Achievement Scholarship recognizes the outstanding achievement of Indigenous students at Algonquin College. The Scholarship acknowledges these individuals’ hard work and dedication, and supports them as they transition from school to the world of work. The Scholarship is to be awarded annually at Convocation.
