Scholarships

Most scholarships have no application process. The selection is completed by Financial Aid and Student Awards in recognition of academic excellence.

Bursaries

Bursaries have an application process; check out “How to Apply for Bursaries“. The selection is completed by Financial Aid and Student Awards based on financial need.

We Saved You a Seat Entrance Awards

Indigenous women who want to pursue studies at Algonquin College in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) programs are encouraged to apply online for We Saved You a Seat entrance awards.

Bursaries

Funds for bursaries marked with an asterisk are matched through the Ontario Trust for Student Support (OTSS). To be eligible, you must be a Canadian Citizen and have been a resident of Ontario for at least 12 consecutive months, and must not have attended full-time post-secondary studies in the year prior to submitting your bursary application.


AC Rainbow Bursary

Awarded to 2SLGBTQ+ students enrolled at the Ottawa, Perth, Pembroke, or Online Campus who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration will be given to students who identify as Black, Indigenous, disabled, trans, and/or non-binary. 

Adamson Associates Architects Bursary

Adamson Architects Associates has established the Adamson Architects Bursary to support Indigenous Students enrolled in either the Architect Technician or the Architect Technology Program offered through the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence.

Audrey Lawrence AC Online Bursary

Awarded to 2 full-time and 3 part-time students at the Algonquin Online campus who can demonstrate financial need. One of the bursaries will include preference for an indigenous student. The generosity of Audrey Lawrence supports the growing need for online program offerings. Her leadership serves to inspire others; helping support flexible learning environments and digital access to education.

Bonnie Lindsay Bursary

Awarded during fall term to a first year indigenous student(s) in the Practical Nursing or Respiratory Therapy program at the Ottawa Campus who can demonstrate financial need.

The CBET Bursary

Awarded to student(s) in their 2nd year of study in any diploma, advanced diploma or degree program at the Ottawa Campus. Special consideration given to students who are Bangladeshi and/or Indigenous. The CBET Bursary has been established through the generosity of the Canada Bangladesh Education Trust for students in financial need.

Charlotte Saida Chaudhry Ottawa Muslim Organization Women’s Bursary

Awarded during spring term to a student(s) in the Practical Nursing program who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration given to First Nation female students.

College and Institutes Canada (CICan) Bird Construction Inc. and Paul Charette Bursary Program

Awarded to full-time Indigenous students enrolled in their first or second year at all campuses who demonstrate financial need and face challenges and barriers to participating in post-secondary education. Bursary in the amount of $2500 will be disbursed directly to the student.

Awarded to an Indigenous student in second (2nd), third (3rd ) or fourth (4th ) year enrolled in one of the programs listed below and who can demonstrate financial need.

Darryl Christopher Socha Bursary

Awarded during fall term to a mature indigenous student(s) enrolled in any program at the Ottawa, Pembroke or Perth Campus who can demonstrate financial challenges.

Eric and Sandra Redmond Bursary

Awarded to mature, Indigenous students continuing in any program at any campus who can demonstrate financial need.

Goudge Family Foundation Bursary*

Awarded during winter term to a student(s) enrolled in any program at the Ottawa, Pembroke or Perth campus who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration given to indigenous students.

Holly Keast Nursing Bursary

Awarded during winter term to an indigenous student(s) graduating from the Practical Nursing Program (Ottawa Campus) who can demonstrate financial need. 

Hydro One Bursary*

Awarded during winter term to a student(s) in the Electrical Engineering Technician or Electrical Engineering Technology program who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration will be given to females and indigenous students.

Indigenous Student Bursary

Awarded to an indigenous student who can demonstrate financial need. 

James McNulty Bursary

Awarded during fall term to a student(s) in their 3rd semester of the Practical Nursing program who can demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to indigenous students, black students or a recent immigrant, having arrived in Canada within the last 5 years.

Leith Wheeler Investment Counsel Ltd. Bursary

Awarded to an Indigenous student in demonstrated financial need who is in the School of Business and Hospitality in any programs related to:

  • Accounting
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • General Business
  • Human Resources

Michelle Valberg-Project North Bursary*

Awarded during fall term to a student(s) at the Ottawa Campus who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration will be given to Inuit students.

MKI Travel and Hospitality Bursary*

Awarded during fall term to a student(s) enrolled in the Travel Services, Hospitality Management – Hotel and Restaurant, Culinary Management or Event Management program who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration given to student(s) of Aboriginal, First Nations and Inuit background.

MNO Métis Student Bursary Program*

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Métis Student Bursary Program provides bursaries to registered students who are verified Métis citizens of the Métis Nation of Ontario. Applicants will be required to consent to a citizenship verification check to confirm eligibility for these awards. Application deadline: December 31, 2024 @ 11:59 pm

Awarded to a first or second year indigenous student(s) enrolled in the Applied Nuclear Science and Radiation Safety program (Pembroke Campus) who can demonstrate financial need.

PureSpirit IT Solutions Inc. Bursary

Awarded during winter term to a full-time indigenous student(s) from one of the following programs: Computer Systems Technician or Computer Systems Technology-Security who can demonstrate financial need.

The Pylon Electronics Education Empowerment Bursary

Awarded to an Indigenous student enrolled in any program at any campus who can demonstrate financial need.

Richard Patten Aboriginal Bursary*

Awarded to an indigenous student(s) at the Ottawa Campus who can demonstrate financial need. 

Sony Indigenous Empowerment Bursary

Awarded annually to four Indigenous students with demonstrated financial need who are enrolled in any of the following programs:

  • Pathways to Indigenous Empowerment
  • Indigenous Studies Foundations – Inuit, Metis, and First Nations
  • Indigenous Studies

Armstrong Family Award

Awarded to a First Nations, Métis or Inuit student enrolled in second year of any program with a minimum 3.0 GPA who demonstrates leadership in the College community. The Award is open to First Nations, Métis and Inuit with a permanent Canadian address. 

Babcock Canada Indigenous Student Award for Exemplary Community Service, Leadership and Work Ethic

Babcock Canada Indigenous Student Award for Exemplary Community Service, Leadership, and Work Ethic – $5,000 Award.

Awarded to a domestic Indigenous student enrolled in any of the following programs who has demonstrated community service, leadership qualities and a strong work ethic:

  • Aircraft Maintenance Technician
  • Aviation Management
  • Project Management
  • Cyber Security Analysis
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Automation and Robotics)
  • Bachelor of Commerce (Supply Chain Management)
  • Strategic Global Business Management

CTV Ottawa Award of Excellence – Director of the Year Award

Awarded to a graduating student with a high GPA who demonstrates the best ability to create a well paced, stylistic program in a variety of categories. Special consideration given to indigenous students.

CTV Ottawa Award of Excellence – Technical Director of the Year Award

Awarded to a graduating student with a high GPA who demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of control room operation, including technical set-up procedures for multi-camera studio production. Special consideration given to indigenous students.

Diane Houston Award in Tourism

Awarded during winter term to a First Nations, Metis or Inuit student(s) enrolled in the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management or Tourism – Travel Services program with a high GPA. The Award is open to First Nations, Metis and Inuit with a permanent Canadian address.

MediaStyle Award

Awarded during winter term to an indigenous student enrolled in second year of either the Public Relations, second year Journalism or third year of the Advertising and Marketing Communications program who has excelled in the program.

Scholarships

Canadian Federation of University Women – Nepean Bursary

Awarded to an Indigenous female student enrolled at the Ottawa Campus who can demonstrate financial need.

Canadian Federation of University Women-Ottawa Sherrylyn Sarazin Scholarship

Awarded to a 2nd or 3rd year Indigenous student in any diploma program.
Preference is for the scholarship to be awarded to a woman or someone who identifies as a woman.

CFUW-Ottawa Sherrylyn Sarazin Scholarship

Awarded to a 2nd or 3rd year Indigenous student in any diploma program. Preference is for the scholarship to be awarded to a woman or someone who identifies as a woman.

Dwight and Christine Powless Indigenous Achievement Scholarship

The Dwight and Christine Powless Indigenous Achievement Scholarship recognizes the outstanding achievement of Indigenous students at Algonquin College. The Scholarship acknowledges these individuals’ hard work and dedication, and supports them as they transition from school to the world of work. The Scholarship is to be awarded annually at Convocation.

Awarded to a graduating indigenous student(s) from one of the following programs: Computer Systems Technician or Computer Systems Technology-Security with a high GPA.

Susan Davies Scholarship in Nursing

Awarded during winter term to a second year First Nations, Metis or Inuit student(s), preferably a female, who has achieved the highest GPA in the Practical Nursing Program.
