Brian White Memorial Award for Athletic Achievement
This award has been established in honour of Brian, a much loved and respected, long-time Coach for Algonquin Thunder Women’s Basketball and a former Thunder player himself. This award goes to the kind of player that Coach absolutely loved having on his team. The kind of player that Brian White was known to be.
The Brian White Memorial Award for Athletic Achievement is given to a female basketball athlete who demonstrates determination, perseverance, leadership and sets an example for others.
Ed Ireland Athletic Bursaries
To be awarded to a full-time student(s) representing Algonquin College on a OCAA Team upon completion of 1st semester who can demonstrate financial need.*
Student Athletic Bursaries
The Athletic Bursary program is designed to encourage and reward athletes who demonstrate academic competence, athletic ability, and financial need. Incoming and returning students, who participate in sports leading to National Championships, are eligible for these awards:
- Must be a full-time, activity-fee paying student.
- Must be a member in good standing of a varsity team which competes within the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association.
- Must successfully complete a full course load (a minimum of five courses) with no failures and a semester GPA of 2.50.

Men’s and Women’s Basketball | $500. /term |
Note: The aforementioned will be credited towards the following semester
Award of Excellence
Awarded to a Support Staff or Administrator of Algonquin College on an annual basis for providing advice, guidance and support to the benefit of students and the Students’ Association.
Faculty Recognition – Excellence in Teaching Award
Awarded to four faculty members, annually, by students for exceptional teaching and having a tremendous effect on their students during their stay at Algonquin College.
Faculty Recognition Certificates
Awarded to faculty who were nominated for providing exceptional teaching and having a positive effect on their students during their stay at Algonquin College.
Terry Kohls Memorial Award
In recognition of the late Terry Kohls’ contribution to the students of Algonquin College, this award is presented to a mature student who has demonstrated a substantial contribution to the welfare of fellow students and the College community (Pembroke Campus).
