Academic Distress Counselling
Counselling Services can help you develop an academic plan to tackle issues and help improve academic performance.
How We Can Help
Academic Distress Counselling is a collaborative process to help identify areas of difficulty and develop strategies to improve academic performance. Some of those difficulties might include balancing workload, negotiating group work, understanding academic expectations, meeting deadlines, or successfully completing tasks. Our counsellors can help if you:
- Are struggling to master the expectations of your professors
- Have questions about how to best balance school and personal commitments
- Feel overwhelmed by assignments, tests, or exams
- Want to talk to a professional who understands the stress of college
There are often solutions to academic struggles that begin to unfold when you ask for help. Our goal is to support you in finding the most appropriate support. Your academic plan may involve connecting with staff and faculty on campus, or using resources such as:
- The Learning Portal: Information and tips on key academic skills, such as researching, writing, digital skills, and study skills
- Essential Study Skills Guide: Resources on topics from time management to test-taking
- Study Skills Workshops: Free workshops in the Library Learning Lab to help you take your study skills to the next level
