If you find yourself having the opportunity to do an interview via Skype for a co-op placement, the YouTube video below will give you some helpful hints to ensure your interview goes as smoothly as possible.
The video is broken down into 4 separate sections, and gives you valuable tips in the following areas:
- How to ensure that your interviewer is able to properly hear you
- How to set up an interview area that will look professional and be free from distractions
- How to setup the proper lighting for a Skype interview
- How to present yourself appropriately on camera
Be sure to remember that when doing a Skype interview with a potential employer, it is important to still to do all the things that you would normally do in an in-person interview as well;
- Properly prepare; conduct research on the company prior to the interview
- Dress in a professional manner
- Speak clearly and properly articulate thoughts and ideas
The co-op office provides a free space for employers to interview potential co-op students. If the employer isn’t able to come to the College campus, for whatever reason, the co-op office will help set-up a Skype interview instead.
These tips are important to remember when going for an interview. They will ensure that you give the best impression possible, and give you the best possible chance of being hired.
