Do I need a co-op work permit to complete my co-op work term?

Yes, if you are not a Canadian citizen or Landed Immigrant, you must apply for a co-op work permit to work in Canada. Once you have been accepted into the Co-op program, our office will provide you with the appropriate application form to apply for a co-op work permit. This should be completed as soon as you are accepted into the program. Once the application is completed, it can take between 6-8 weeks or longer to get a work permit. Students will also need to apply for a Social Insurance Number (SIN) in order to legally work in Canada.
