Companies are hiring co-op students to fulfil their organization’s needs for many different reasons. The reasons below are just three of the many benefits.

 

Super Motivated

Immediately before beginning work with your company, a co-op student has been working hard in school, learning the newest techniques in their field. This knowledge is fresh in their minds and they’re ready to apply it to a real-world situation.

Co-op students are just starting out in their field, and are therefore extremely motivated. They’re ready to work hard and learn as much as they can. Having new, energetic employees in your workforce is a boon for your company.

 

Low Risk

Co-op work terms are typically four or eight months long. This can be especially helpful for your business. Whether you need a temporary position filled, or if you have a special project that your permanent staff just hasn’t had time to get to, a co-op student is the perfect fit.

Co-op students are also a great low-risk way of assessing future hires. Many of our Algonquin co-op students are hired on as permanent staff when their placement is up, which saves you training time and the risky prospect of hiring a new candidate whose work abilities you haven’t yet seen.

 

$3,000 Tax Credit

On top of all the good a co-op student can do for you, you also get a tax credit. The tax credit could be worth up to $3,000. The government website can answer any questions you have about the tax credit and walk you through the process of claiming it.
