Technology is at the forefront of innovation and as the world evolves, education does too. That’s why Algonquin College is the place to start if you’re looking for a career in advanced technology. With access to high-tech, industry-standard equipment and expert professors, AC’s learners are ready to change the world as we know it.

Technology is the way forward

There’s no shying away from change here; Algonquin College learners are here to dive into it headfirst. Here, they embrace change and test the boundaries of technology. It’s this forward way of thinking that prepares them for fulfilling careers in the field of science and technology. These four branches of tech will forge the path toward a brighter future:

1. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

This innovation helps organizations to process massive amounts of data more quickly and uncover patterns that were previously impossible to detect, resulting in more precise risk modelling and predictions. Learners in Artificial Intelligence Software Development dive into the detailed mechanisms of machine learning to acquire the skills to troubleshoot, debug and optimize machine learning and deep learning architectures. Through a combination of theory-based learning and industry-based applied research projects, students gain hands-on skills to assess, recommend, design, implement and troubleshoot various advanced AI solutions. Graduates enter the workforce with an in-depth understanding of deep learning, reinforcement learning and knowledge representation.

Hear from Artificial Intelligence Software Development student, Rafael on his experience with the program:

“Definitely the most surprising thing is the practical approach the course takes. You don’t stay in theory where you don’t know how to use these things. You go actually create systems with it and that’s very exciting and fun.”

2. Big Data & Predictive Analytics

The exponential growth of data sources allows organizations to build more sophisticated prediction models. By leveraging big data, they can forecast trends and behaviours to better assess risks, improve pricing strategies, and make better business decisions. Learners in the Business Intelligence System Infrastructure program gain hands-on experience through data engineering, database design, implementation and aggregate/analytic query writing, data modelling, data visualization, programming, machine learning, cloud fundamentals and development, and agile project management. Students are encouraged to work in the Data Analytics Centre (DAC); a state-of-the-art lab equipped with industry-standard technology and equipment (check it out here). Before they even graduate, students from this program are equipped with the technical knowledge needed to jump-start a career in Business Intelligence and related data-driven decision-assist fields.

3. Cloud Computing

Cloud platforms provide organizations with the ability to scale their computing power and access advanced analytics tools without the limitations of traditional infrastructure. Learners enrolled in the Cloud Development and Operations program learn to design, build, and manage secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions using the latest cloud-native tools. This program prepares students to meet the increasing demand for cloud computing professionals across all industries.

4. Automation & RPA

Routine organizational tasks, from data entry to reporting, are becoming increasingly automated. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) frees up time for organizations to focus on higher-value priorities and client interactions.
Learners in the Bachelor of Engineering (Automation and Robotics) program gain insight into computer engineering, computer programming, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering, for a well-rounded experience before graduation. Learners gain access to the College’s Robotics Lab! This space is fully equipped with everything they need to apply control theory, dynamic system behaviour, communication protocols, pneumatics, and embedded programming. Even before graduation, these students are ready to hit the ground running. Watch our video to learn more about the program from faculty, students and a co-op employer.

“There are three separate co-op terms which you can pick three separate companies to work with or return to the same one each term, it’s up to you, there’s lots of flexibility.” – Jaxon – Bachelor of Engineering (Automation and Robotics) student.

Ready and waiting

Through co-op opportunities, real client interactions, and in-depth knowledge of industry-standard tools and software, AC’s students are ready to take the workforce by storm before they even graduate.
