7 Ways Our Services Can Help You Succeed!

You may not know or have realized that there are a whole lot of services available to you as a student to help you succeed in your studies and during your time at Algonquin College! These services were only available virtually for a long time, but we’re happy to share that many are back on campus so you can access them in person or online.

What kinds of services are we talking about?

Well, services like the AC Hub, the Centre for Accessible Learning, Counselling, the Employment Support Centre, Health Services, the Library, the Mamidosewin Centre, Project Lighthouse, the Umbrella Project, the Spiritual Centre, the Student Learning Centre, Test Centre, Welcome Centre, and Peer Tutoring are coming back and will be 75% on campus for the upcoming winter term. Connections – the Campus Store and the Print Shop will also be open for in-person shopping at the Woodroffe campus.

While many services will be offering on-campus in-person services for the winter semester, all services will remain available virtually. So, how do you pick which service can help you with your educational journey? We’ve got a couple of ideas for you below.

Looking for resources for your next assignment or need some support in your research?

The Library has you covered! All campus libraries offer brief research consultation and search help during business hours. Whether it’s online or in-person they can help point you in the right direction. The main space at Woodroffe is open 24/7 and library services are available Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Having a tough time balancing studies with the rest of your life? Do things feel overwhelming?

Seek out some support from Counselling Services. They are available remotely Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5:30pm and now also on campus Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30pm. Check out the Counselling Services website for more information, upcoming events, and to book an appointment.

Struggling with those math problems or a particularly tricky writing assignment?

The Student Learning Centre (Woodroffe) and the Student Support Lab (Pembroke) are great places to check out for assistance! There are coaching labs, peer tutoring, and even online workshops that can help you overcome learning obstacles and succeed in your course work. They are currently available remotely Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm but stay tuned for updates coming in the winter term.

Confused about admissions, payments, registrations, transcripts, and other administrative type aspects of college?

The Registrar’s Office is back on campus to help you make sense of it all! While most services are available online through ACSIS you can still get direct support from the Registrar’s Office in-person or virtually, Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30pm.

Feeling unwell? Need some support from health professionals?

Health Services is here to support you! Appointments MUST be pre-booked by phone. At our Woodroffe campus, they are open Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 4:45pm and Wednesday from 4:30pm – 7:00pm for TB testing only. For those at our other campuses, check out details about our Health Services at Perth and Pembroke.

Need a spot to store your winter coat, extra layers, textbooks, and school gear while you’re in class on campus?

Lockers on the Woodroffe Campus will continue to be available for learners to rent in the Winter Term via ACSIS.

Commuting to campus with your own vehicle and need to park?

The Parking Services office in E Building (E120) is now be open for in-person support, as well as by phone/email. Parking options for the Winter 2022 term are already available for online purchase and there are a variety of short- and long-term options including pro-rated annual permits (January – August), and Multipacks (10 daily parking permits at a discount).
