Our Winter Virtual Open House is coming up on Wednesday, January 20 from 3 to 7 pm. It’s open to anyone interested in learning more about the courses and services we offer at Algonquin College.

Anne Kalil, Manager of Student Recruitment, answers some common questions about the event.

What is Virtual Open House?

Since we don’t have our live open house at the moment, it’s an opportunity for potential students to visit various Zoom rooms with information about our services and different program areas of interest, and ask the questions they need to in order to make an informed decision about their post-secondary education. Participants can pop in and out of different rooms they’re interested in and listen and ask questions. We’ll have representatives on hand from all four of our campuses, including Ottawa, Perth, Pembroke and Online.

What will I learn about at Open House?

At the top of every hour, at 4 pm, 5 pm and 6 pm, there will be a short power point presentation for each program followed by a Q &A. At the top of every half hour, from 3 pm to 7 pm, there will be power point presentations on services offered by the College followed by a Q & A. The services you can learn about during the Open House include Student Support Services, Second Career, Financial Aid, Admission Requirements, Housing, and information about how programs will run during COVID-19.

How will participants be able to ask questions after each presentation?

Through the Zoom chat feature, or they can use the ‘Raise Hand’ function.

Who do you recommend attends?

Anybody coming from high school, or anybody looking to change their career, anybody who wants to upgrade their career, parents and other influencers who want to help with decision-making, a laid-off worker looking for a second career. It’s never too late to come back.

How can I sign up to participate?

You just need to visit Algonquincollege.com/openhouse and register using our online form. You will then get an email on the day of the event with Zoom links that will allow you to join.
