Tanya Buckley, AC Board of Governors member, recognized for philanthropic efforts

On Thursday, July 11, the Advancement & Strategy office celebrated Board of Governor member, Tanya Buckley, for her philanthropic efforts in creating The Cardel Homes Bursary and The Cardel Homes Scholarship.

Buckley and 10 female Cardel Homes Ontario Division staff members were welcomed to the Ottawa Campus. The event included a cheque presentation with remarks from Claude Brulé, President and CEO, and Nancy Druick, Manager, Philanthropy, and a tour of the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE).

“Cardel Homes is proud to be a long-standing supporter of women in trades and will continue to drive diversity and inclusion by creating opportunities for education and training with partners like Algonquin College,” said Buckley, Senior Vice President, Cardel Homes Ontario Division.

This is a $17,500 donation pledged over three years. A portion of this gift ($2,500) is a Giving Tuesday matched gift, therefore in total, $20,000 will be available to be shared equally between The Cardel Homes Bursary ($2,500) and The Cardel Homes Scholarship ($2,500), which are open to female students in the following programs:

  • Building Construction Technician
  • Carpentry and Renovation Techniques
  • Welding and Fabrication Techniques
  • Electrical Engineering Technician
  • Construction Engineering Technician
  • Architectural Technician
  • Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Technician

Buckley is a proud Algonquin College alumna and joined the Board of Governors in 2023. Since graduating from Algonquin College, Buckley has returned to the College several times to offer her perspectives, experience, and expertise. She has advised the Alumni & Friends Network, served on The Strategic Advisory Committee and is an ACCE Advisory Committee member.
