Perth Campus celebrates graduates at Spring 2023 Convocation

Algonquin College’s Perth Campus held its Spring 2023 Convocation on June 7.
Students from the campus’ Heritage Carpentry and Joinery, Practical Nursing, Business – Agriculture and Early Childhood Education programs took to the stage to receive their diplomas amid a crowd of friends, family and loved ones. President and CEO Claude Brulé began the ceremony by commending the new graduates for the hard work, dedication and resiliency that helped them navigate the challenges of the past few years. Other speakers at the event included honorary degree recipient John Stewart, a heritage conservation expert and long-time friend of the Perth Campus, and valedictorian Emma Martin from the Business – Agriculture program.

“Convocation is something I’ve yet to experience, as I didn’t get to experience it in high school due to COVID,” Martin said before the ceremony. “It’s the end of a chapter that seemed so far away a few years ago. It’s the end of an era for us but at the same time, it’s the start of the rest of my life and my friends’ lives.

“Being valedictorian is a huge honour and I am proud to represent the Perth Campus, Algonquin and all of the students around me.”

The event could not have been a success without the hard work and passion of the Perth Campus’ staff, all of whom were thrilled to see their learners walk across the stage. It was an emotional night for many in attendance, and Algonquin College hopes that this ceremony will serve as a first step in the future successes of our wonderful graduates.
