Pembroke Campus alumnus Jason Blaine raises $110,000 for his hometown.

For nine years, Pembroke Campus alumnus Jason Blaine has been raisingJason Blaine on stage with others holding a large cheque money for his hometown by showcasing his musical talent to help people in need. This year his charity concert and golf tournament held at the Pembroke Golf Club on June 21 raised $110,000 for community projects and services.

Since launching his own charitable fund, Blaine has raised about $850,000 with $200,000 of that amount being donated to Algonquin College’s Pembroke Campus. $100,000 was donated to help with the building campaign for the Waterfront Campus and Blaine then followed up by creating a $100,000 endowment to support students in financial need at the Pembroke Campus.

More than 200 golfers participated in the 9-hole event that was followed by an open air concert at the golf club. As always, several Canadian country music artists joined Blaine for the event, including Chad Brownlee, Andrew Hyatt and River Town Saints. There was also a guest appearance by former NHL player Doug Gilmour.

The event was held under sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-30s, but no one complained about the tropical conditions as Blaine has established his tournament as one of the must attend charity events of the year in the Pembroke area.
