Power Outage Update

What: Power Outage update

Friday, July 20, 2018, 10:30 p.m.

Crews are still working to restore power to parts of the Ottawa Campus, which was struck by a wide scale outage at approximately 3 p.m. Friday afternoon. We are unable to provide an ETA on the restoration of full power at this time.

In the interim, please be advised that:

• The ACCE Building is operating normally and all regularly scheduled activity will continue there on Saturday.

• All regularly scheduled activities, programs, and services in areas of the Ottawa Campus other than ACCE Building will be suspended on Saturday and until further notice. Employees in non-essential roles are advised not to come to the campus.

Power Outage on Ottawa Campus

At 2:46 p.m., smoke was detected on an electrical switch in the A Building. As a precaution, Physical Resources cut power to parts of the Ottawa campus to allow an investigation into the source of the smoke.

We are unable to provide an ETA on resumption of power, pending further investigation.

Smart Hands: Graduate scores with sports massage business

Basil Phillips learned a lot when he attended Algonquin’s Massage Therapy program in the late 1990s. But there was something missing, he says.

Thanks to the veteran massage therapist himself, the gap has been filled.

Phillips became interested in massage therapy because of his background in sports. He was looking for a business that would continue to keep him involved in athletics, he says. Read more >
