Q: Why did you choose Algonquin College?

A: I live in Ottawa, and it has a good reputation.

Q: What is your favourite memory from your time at Algonquin College?

A: Tutoring students is probably my favourite memory. It was very rewarding helping first-year students pass their classes.

Q: What are some of the highlights from your time at Algonquin College?

A: I had the opportunity to participate in activities that pushed me out of my comfort zone. For a month I was a part of the school’s social media team, and I made a few videos for them. They’re not the best videos, but I did my best. I learned to become comfortable in front of the camera, so that’s probably one of my highlights!

Q: Tell us about your faculty and your classmates. How important have they been to your overall Algonquin College experience?

A: Most people were chill and supportive. My class had a discord where we would help each other out with homework problems. It had a positive impact on my overall experience at Algonquin College because I never felt like I was struggling by myself.

Q: What does being named Valedictorian mean to you?

A: I am grateful to have been selected as valedictorian. I would like to thank my teachers and classmates for helping me out. Also big thanks to my parents, sisters, and boyfriend for supporting me! I would not have done this well without any of them.

Q: Who or what will you miss most?

A: I will miss the gym on campus most. It is so nice!

Q: What advice do you have for future students?

A: Don’t focus on getting good grades, focus on understanding what’s being taught and how to apply it in real life. At the end of the day no one cares if you get straight A’s if you don’t know how to use what you’ve learned in school. Just make sure you pass!
